Whitney Ellis

About Me

Whitney Ellis is a highly accomplished student and athlete who has been involved in a wide array of extracurricular activities throughout her school career. In her 9-year involvement, she was a part of a State Champion softball team in 2017, which also held several regional championship titles. Whitney has been playing volleyball since 2017 with her extremely successful school team, and cheerleading since 2008. Throughout her life, she spent several years participating in ballet, soccer, drama club, and yearbook staff. Clubs such as FCA, Student Council, and Beta Club have been able to call her one of their own since 2017, where she has held several officer positions. In the 2019-2020 school year,  she was honored to be elected class president. The FCCLA vice president title has belonged to her two of the three years she has been able to participate. Whitney has involved herself in many community service projects, several of which have been through a school organization called Outreach -where she has been an active member for three years- as well as  a once a year, weekend event called Illinois Changers. She is extremely involved in her church, teaching within the Elkville First Baptist Church’s children’s program on Sundays since 2017, and often presenting a leadership example during Sunday and Wednesday night youth. For several years, she was an assistant coach for the soccer program offered by her church.

She excels in academics, with a current GPA of 5.03 while residing on the High Honors roll for 9 years. In 2018, she was celebrated one of the top four students in her class as marshal for junior high graduation. In 2019, Whitney was awarded with The Illinois Principals Association’s Leadership Award.  Later that year, Whitney was the 8th-grade Valedictorian in her graduating class, with her speech featured in the local newspaper. She is a dual credit student, taking classes through John A. Logan College since the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year.

Ms. Ellis aspires to attend a university once out of high school, where she intends to earn a degree in one of her various interests- primary education, veterinary science, or forensic pathology.

Whitney has lived in Murphysboro, Illinois, the entirety of her life. She lives on her family hobby farm, where from a young age she has adored her daily responsibility of caring for animals. She enjoys many hobbies in her free time, some examples include reading, writing, hunting, fishing, hiking, and camping.
