Today we had the opportunity to visit Quality Qutz and hear from its owner, Dr. Lee Hughes, whose journey is a powerful example of perseverance and purpose.
Dr. Hughes shared his inspiring story—serving previously as a police officer, working with DCFS, and now celebrating the achievement of earning his PhD from SIUC while also serving as a Professor of Social Work at SIUC. His path reminds us that success is often built through seasons of growth, transition, and determination.
During our conversation, he encouraged aspiring entrepreneurs with a powerful reminder: business ownership doesn’t happen overnight. It takes patience, dedication, and hard work.
He also left us with what he calls Dr. Lee’s 3 C’s for Success:
