A fantastic morning in Jackson CEO with Mr. Nathan Colombo who discussed The Center for Empowerment and Justice where he explained it as part entrepreneurs, part incubator, part community, part giving back, and part helping others. Given that nearly all of us had never seen or heard of it, we came to understand what he meant by the end. The overall goal is connecting people with resources in the community, especially helping those that don't seem to get what they need to make their ideas come to fruition. Mr. Colombo discussed how to sustain southern Illinois rural areas through agriculture and personalized food systems, the amazing development of tiny houses to help with homelessness, and the evolution of the patent pending solar tree project. He explained how Bernie the Engineer came to this space to create his solar tree that has gained widespread attention from the innovative concept that he created.

Mr. Colombo explained that the space is meant to provide people with opportunities to participate, solve, and engage others in the community. This includes areas such as printing, sewing, canning, gardening, restaurateuring, and solar energy. He finished the day by providing a piece of advice that will be invaluable to our team stating, "What you're doing now may not be the same that you're doing in 2 years or 5 years or even 10 years and that's okay as long as you keep your spirit." Thanks so much for your time and enthusiasm this morning! It was so much fun and a great learning experience! -jj
